Executive Director

Nathan Wong

I am a student with a strong interest in social inequality, particularly in how structural injustices shape the lived experiences of different communities. My involvement in initiatives supporting underrepresented groups, especially through sport and community-based projects, has made these issues more meaningful and tangible, rather than abstract.

As the Executive Director of Empower HK, my work aligns closely with the organisation's mission to amplify the voices of domestic workers and highlight the challenges they face. In this role, I aim to strengthen the credibility of this organisation, while also making it a more accessible point of support for domestic workers.

Lead Photographer

Angelina Qiu

As someone with a keen eye for details, I enjoy capturing the minute features of our society entangled in our everyday lives. I have always enjoyed finding my own perspectives on art and photography and decided to begin this journey with my first professional camera when I was 15. I chose to join this initiative because I found the mission extremely inspiring — I want to raise awareness for domestic workers since there is a large community of them in Hong Kong, where I live. Furthermore, I strongly believe this initiative is a collective effort; therefore, my contributions would further strengthen my collaboration skills while allowing me to hone my photography skills. As the lead photographer of Empower HK, I aim to carry out the mission of raising awareness to the best of my abilities, taking it to a large scale, further enriching our generation, and inspiring others to do the same.

What We Stand For

At Empower HK, we recognise the transformative power of the creative arts. Arts serves as a profound tool for education, communication and advocacy. By embracing creativity, we cultivate a culture of empathy, resilience, and collective support, advancing the health and well-being of individuals and communities across Hong Kong.

Vision

Our NGO's vision targets domestic helpers in Hong Kong as well as a global audience interested in comprehending the hurdles these workers encounter. Our aim is to heighten awareness, nurture empathy, and establish a platform enabling domestic workers to connect with compassionate individuals and organizations, accessing resources and support.
